Seattle Airbnb Case Study

Background

This dashboard was created to help a customer answer the question: 

I want to start an Airbnb business in Seattle, what are some of the factors I should be looking at when deciding where and what kind of houses to buy and rent out to prospective tenants?

Process

This "Seattle Airbnb Open Data" dataset was found downloaded from Kaggle. The dataset contains 3 CSVs, "calendar", "listings", and "reviews". 

The CSVs were loaded into one Excel workbook which was then loaded into Tableau. To prepare the data, the "listings" dataset was inner joined with the "calendar" dataset on the ID. 

Then began creation of the sheets. Each sheet was created by dragging the dimensions and measures to each sheet, changing some labels and formatting for maximum readability. 

After the sheets were completed, a dashboard was created and each sheet was dragged onto the dashboard. 

Conclusion

It's important to note that this is simply a starting point for the analysis. The dataset includes a lot more data that could be explored depending on the needs of the customer. This dashboard may raise a number of new questions from the customer, so it's important to be flexible and adapt to the needs of the customer.
