This dashboard I created shows some of the economic impacts of tourism and offers some insights into the flow of people and money in the field of tourism.
Following the dashboard, I will share the process of how I went about the process of creating this dashboard. And yes, I used AI :)

Process
I chose tourism because I have a strong personal interest in this topic. As a US expat living abroad, I have seen and experienced a great deal of tourism firsthand. So, I wanted to make a dashboard in Tableau about tourism to improve my skills and learn something new.
After choosing the topic, I set out looking for some datasets. After browsing various websites including Eurostat, Our World in Data, and Data.gov, I came across a nice tourism dataset on Kaggle. I reviewed the contents and decided to move forward with that one.
The dataset contained 36 CSV files and 155 columns of data. To narrow my search, I decided to employ ChatGPT to help me.
I used the following prompt to find out what data would be most important from the dataset.
Instead of just choosing what I thought was interesting, I wanted to simulate a real-world example. What data would a stakeholder want to know to help them make their job easier and help them make decisions?
I received a response of 10 different categories of data. Here are 2 examples.
The next step was to compare the CSVs from the dataset to the metrics provided by ChatGPT. I marked the useful CSVs and put them into one Excel workbook. I then imported that workbook into Tableau.
Next, I started creating some charts including geographic maps and bar charts to see what the data had to offer. After playing around for a while, and learning some tips and tricks from a couple tutorials, I started pulling the sheets into a dashboard.
Though I am happy with how this dashboard turned out, I would definitely love to continue to improve it and even get feedback on it. I'd like to add an additional chart or insight in the empty area under the year filter. I would like to improve it with further action filters and improve the aesthetic appeal.
Thanks for your attention and I hope you enjoyed this dashboard.
